“Next Boarding” captures a quiet, contemplative moment of a woman walking through a forest alongside her dog, holding a delicate paper boat in her hand. Inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Paper Boats (1913), which speaks of sending paper boats down a stream carrying names, hopes, and dreams to unknown places, this painting invites viewers to reflect on connection, longing, and the unseen paths that link us all.
“Day by day I float my paper boats one by one down the running stream.
In big black letters I write my name on them and the name of
the village where I live.
I hope that someone in some strange land will find them and
know who I am...”
