Where Cities Begin portrays a young girl and her dog digging in the sand, absorbed in the simple act of play. Yet what surrounds them is far more than a beach scene. Rising from their imagination are delicate three-dimensional architectural line drawings—imaginary buildings that transform the shoreline into the blueprint of a future city.

The painting reflects on the idea that every city, every home, and every dream begins first as an act of imagination. Childhood becomes the birthplace of architecture, memory, and belonging. The sand is both playground and foundation, a place where the temporary gives shape to the eternal.

The translucent architectural structures suggest more than urban design. They evoke aspirations, migration, and the human desire to build a place to call home. Hovering between reality and vision, they invite viewers to consider that the most enduring cities are often the ones first constructed in the imagination.
