Description:
Gathering What Passes belongs to the Shadows Series, a blue period in Arlet Gomez’s practice where an extended spectrum of blues becomes a language for memory, contemplation, and the passage of time.

Two girls reach toward the shadows of leaves cast across a wall, as if trying to gather something that can be seen but never truly held. Light, shadow, and childhood converge in a fleeting gesture—a moment suspended between presence and memory.

The work is inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:11: “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” The verse extends beyond the central painting onto a small accompanying rectangular canvas, where it appears in tactile Braille against deep green. This second element creates a physical and conceptual dialogue between image and word, sight and touch.

Here, blue is more than a palette. It becomes an emotional atmosphere through which the ephemeral is preserved: shadows move, light changes, childhood passes, yet something of each moment remains.
